4 Key Factors Affecting the Quality of CO2 Laser Cutter

Have you wondered what makes a good laser? There are five main factors to consider during purchasing. Redsail Laser can fulfill all your needs and wants during operations, from cutting and engraving speeds, at attractive prices. Furthermore, we provide professional services for all our inquirers.

Laser is the critical part of the equipment just like the heart of a laser cutting machine. It plays a decisive role in the quality of the machine. A high-quality laser cutting machine should operate at an ideal mode of stable power and other elements.

There are different kinds of lasers, which are defined differently. From the excitation medium, it can be roughly divided into solid-state laser and gas-state laser. They adopt different mediums respectively. Just for your information, the earliest laser uses Ruby as the medium.

Nowadays, the mainstream CO2 laser-cutting machine is the carbon dioxide laser, followed by the YAG laser.

Carbon dioxide laser is easy to obtain the ideal laser mode and high energy. In addition, it is operating at a stable performance with a shorter shutting down time. Thus, it is widely applied in cutting various materials. Without the high cost of maintenance needed, only regular cleaning and the change of cooling water are needed.

While the YAG laser has the characteristics of high photoelectric conversion efficiency and small volume. However, it has a limitation of the energy pump losing fast and needs high maintenance costs.

1.     Incentive Mode

Carbon dioxide laser uses the electrode to excite carbon dioxide gas to produce laser light. According to the installation position of the metal electrode. It can be divided into DC excitation and RF excitation.

2.    Laser Frequency

The laser output is divided into pulse output and continuous output. The pulse output is widely adopted in laser cutting and welding. The pulse frequency is mainly affected by the cutting speed and notch roughness. To obtain high-speed cutting, high frequency is essential. Currently, most manufacturers of carbon dioxide laser frequency are within 5000Hz.

3.    Beam divergence angle

Frankly speaking, the beam divergence angle does not belong to the laser part, but because the laser mode has a great influence on the far-field divergence angle. Thus, the narrower the width of the cut, the smaller the angle of divergence. The better quality of the cut.

4.    Laser Mode

It is one of the critical indexes to measure laser cutter quality. It can be divided into single mode, fundamental mode, and multimode. The fundamental mode is tem-00, and the exponent on the X and Y axes is 0, thus, it is an ideal dot. The laser with tem-00 mode can obtain the smallest beam diameter. The smallest spot can obtain the smallest slit and faster fast in the cutting process.

The multimode is XY axis non-zero index and beam quality are poor, thus, it is generally used during welding rather than cutting.

In a nutshell, Redsail Laser can meet all these factors, all our laser-cutting machines have a lifetime warranty. We have rich experience in manufacturing and exporting our machinery overseas and worldwide. If you are interested in our laser cutters, feel free to contact us now~
